Teaching someone how to play music is a huge responsibility that I take very seriously 🧐 because done right, it can ignite a lifelong passion for music. Done wrong, it can make learning guitar seem hard and unattainable.
From listening to the stories of my students, I think that most teachers overwhelm their students with things that don’t matter or inspire early on in their musical journey (like complicated music theory or textbook songs) ...
They replicate a school class (urgh), making learning guitar feel like a chore rather than a creative, enjoyable experience that it should be!
That’s why my approach to teaching is different — I teach people to play guitar by focusing on actually playing and having fun with the instrument. My way avoids meaningless information and instead uses games and challenges to make learning enjoyable.
